2023年的長假不少，但是補上班日也隨之增多。部分企業在反應工作時程受到影響的同時，也表示補班日的工作效率與效能有時真的會不太一樣。在這樣的考量下，政府調整了明年補班與補假的規範，從中有許多Toeic英文，學習了之後也方便與外籍員工布達、交流。


Staff Announcement: Update on Holiday and "Make-Up" Day Policy for 2024
Dear Team,

We wish to inform you about some changes to the holiday policy for 2024 based on the recent guidelines released by the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration (DGP(A):
  1. The number of "make-up" days, where staff has to work or attend classes after a holiday, has been reduced to only one day in 2024.

  2. The total days off and extended weekends in 2024 will be slightly fewer than in 2023.

  3. The concept of "make-up" days is being redefined. Instead of a fixed make-up day for long holidays, we will adopt a flexible approach, limiting to one fixed make-up day per year.

  4. The single "make-up" day in 2024 will be on Saturday, February 17, following the Lunar New Year holiday (Feb. 8-14). This arrangement aims to add an extra day to the Lunar New Year break.

  5. The total days off for 2024 is set at 115 days, which is one day less than 2023.

  6. Extended public holidays in 2024 will include Founding Day, Lunar New Year, Children's Day/Tomb Sweeping Holiday, and the Dragon Boat Festival. However, the 228 Peace Memorial Day (Feb. 28), Mid-Autumn Festival (Sept. 17), and National Day (Oct. 10) will be observed on weekdays without extension to nearby weekends.

1.Announcement 公告

announce是公告的動詞，由a-（to...）與noun（名詞）組成，把事情說出來就是公告，加上-ment成為名詞。

The CEO made an important announcement about the company's future plans during the annual meeting.
（CEO在年度會議上宣布有關公司未來計劃的重要消息。）

Employees are eagerly waiting for the announcement regarding the bonus distribution.
（員工正在熱切等待有關獎金分配的公告。）

2.Policy 政策

policy適用於公司與政府的政策，提及「制定政策者」，policy後面加上maker就可以了。

The company's policy on remote working has been updated to offer more flexibility.
（公司的遠端工作政策已更新，提供更大的靈活性。）

Every new employee receives a handbook detailing the company's policies and procedures.
（每位新員工都會收到一本詳細說明公司政策和流程的手冊。）

3.Guidelines 指導方針

guide是「引導」，用來引導的條文就是指導方針。

The health department issued guidelines for maintaining safety during the pandemic.
（衛生部門發布在疫情流行期間保持安全的指導方針。）

Please follow the guidelines outlined in the document while submitting your report.
（提交報告時，請遵循文件中概述的指導方針。）

4.Administration 管理

administer是「管理、治理」，「管理人」為administrator。名詞administration也可以用來指「管理層」。

The company is looking to hire someone with experience in business administration.
（該公司希望聘請有商業管理經驗的人。）

The school administration has decided to introduce new courses next semester.
（學校管理層已決定下學期加入新課程。）

5.Make-Up Days 補班／補課日

Definition: Additional days on which employees work or students attend classes, typically to compensate for holidays or days off.

make-up可用於任何有「補上」之意的地方，例如：補考、化妝、補償、補班、補課等。

Due to the snowstorm, the school has scheduled two make-up days next month.
（由於暴風雪，學校已安排了下個月的兩天補課。）

Employees can choose their preferred make-up days for the extended holiday.
（員工可以選擇他們喜歡的補班日以延長假期。）

6.Extended Weekend 長週末

extend是「延長」，extend weekend就是假期調整後產生的「長週末」了，比較簡單的說法是long weekend。

Many employees are planning short trips for the extended weekend next month.
（許多員工計劃下個月的長週末出門旅遊。）

The company has given an extended weekend as a reward for meeting the quarterly targets.
（公司獎勵達到季度目標的員工一個長週末。）

7.Flexible Approach 有彈性的方法

flex是「彎曲」，進而引申為「有彈性的」，approach當成動詞是「接近」，在商業領域當名詞，意思通常是「手段、方案」。

The manager's flexible approach to problem-solving has been beneficial for the team.
（經理解決問題的靈活方案對團隊很有益。）

A flexible approach in the project will allow for changes based on customer feedback.
（專案中的彈性方案將允許根據客戶回饋進行更改。）

8.Arrangement 安排

Definition: A plan or preparation for a future event or process.

原型動詞為arrange，加上ment成名詞。像「插花」是flower arrangement。

The arrangement for the annual conference is being finalized by the events team.
（活動團隊正在確定年度會議的安排。）
